Question about kissing?

I have a small cut in my mouth, should I be worried about getting an STD from someone if we do a lot of heavy kissing? I'm pretty sure I'm just being paranoid. It doesn't say anything about that on the CDC website or any other legitimate website, for that matter. But I just want to be sure.
